Manning, Colts have the edge

Super Bowl odds are about to take over, and this year’s game should be a great excuse to get together with friends, make a feast and watch the two best teams in the NFL go at it as Indianapolis and New Orleans prepare to take to the field in Miami.

Saints vs Colts odds – Sunday, February 7, 6:20 PM ET

The Saints were the top seed in the NFC, and they’re led by Drew Brees, the top-rated passer who finished a distant second to Indy’s Peyton Manning in the NFL’s MVP race. The x-factor may be the versatile Reggie Bush (who you may know as Mr. Kim Kardashian), who was the key in a rout of Arizona two weeks ago.

The Colts have Manning, the four-time MVP who also won the Super Bowl MVP when Indy won it all four years ago. Manning has complete control of this offense, and the defense is very underrated, and they have the speed to keep up with a fast New Orleans offense.

The Colts are 5.5-point favorites in this contest, and they have yet to lose a game in which they were at 100% (their two losses late in the season came when they decided to rest their starters). The Saints showed some holes in their armor against the Vikings, and the Colts will capitalize.

NFL picks: Colts -5.5

Bet on NFC to make it three in a row over AFC

While the Super Bowl line has everyone excited, there are still two weeks left until the big game. Until then, NFL betting players will have to amuse themselves with the Pro Bowl on Sunday, and thanks to some injuries to the AFC, the NFC is in the running to win their third straight in this event. There is no line for the Pro Bowl yet, as linesmakers await more players to drop out.

AFC vs NFC odds – Sunday, January 31, 6:20 PM ET

The AFC learned that New England’s Tom Brady and San Diego’s Philip Rivers will skip this event, held for the first time in 30 years outside of Hawaii, which leaves Houston’s Matt Schaub to share time with Tennessee’s Vince Young and Jacksonville’s David Garrard. Young almost led the Titans to the playoffs after a terrible start, but Garrard? Look for a lot of handoffs to Offensive Player of the Year Chris Johnson, Young’s Tennessee teammate.

The NFC will be powered by Minnesota’s Brett Favre and the man who replaced him in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers. The Pro Bowl is built on offense and points (only one of the last 10 have had 40 points or less), so it’s all about the teams that can air it out. Look for Favre and Rodgers to look towards Minnesota’s Sidney Rice, who had a massive season with Favre in the Metrodome.

What To Watch For During Conference Championship Weekend

Super Bowl odds are all over the place right now, as the NFL season comes down to their version of the Final Four. Here are some betting tips so you can get in on the action.

Jets vs Colts odds – Sunday, 3:00 PM ET

The Jets have a rookie head coach in Rex Ryan, and a rookie quarterback in Mark Sanchez. That usually doesn’t bode well for a team. The Jets beat Indy in Week 16, but the Colts took out their starters to rest for the playoffs, and you can bet that they’ve heard the trash talk from the Jets camp. The Colts were winning by five when they took their starters out. This game won’t be that close.

Vikings vs Saints odds – Sunday, 6:40 PM ET

The Saints seem destined to go to their first Super Bowl, but they’ll only do so if they can stop a vicious Minnesota pass rush that dominated Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys last week. The Saints are led by Drew Brees and an explosive offense, but their defense has improved this year and they’re underrated. They’re also at home in the Superdome, one of the loudest places in the league, and the Vikings lost their last three road games.

NFL picks: Colts -7.5; Saints -3.5

Chargers look to cool off Jets

Coach Rex Ryan thinks his Jets should be NFL betting favorites for the Super Bowl, and they continue their hot streak with a thorough beating of Cincinnati on the road. Can they continue this when they head west to face the rested San Diego Chargers?

Jets vs Chargers betting – Sunday, January 17, 4:40 PM ET

The Jets executed their gameplan to a tee in a 24-14 win at Cincinnati, running the ball for 182 yards, while keeping the passing game simple for rookie pivot Mark Sanchez. The defense was ranked No.1 in the regular season and for the second straight week, they completely shut down the Bengals’ offense.

The Chargers won their final 11 games of the season and are probably the hottest team in the NFL. Philip Rivers has a disgusting amount of weapons at his disposal, led by Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates. Their defense gives up yards, but they come up with big plays when they need to.

The Chargers are 7.5-point favorites according to bookmaker odds (bookmaker reviews) in this contest, and they’ve won their last two meetings with the Jets. New York needs to get a lead early against the Chargers, because they don’t want it all resting on Sanchez. Rivers and the San Diego offense won’t be flustered by the blitzing New York offense as they’ve seen it plenty when Ryan was defensive coordinator in Baltimore. It’s tough to pick a rookie quarterback in the playoffs, as well.

Sportsbook pick: Chargers -7.5
